About me
When you think of an artist, what comes to your mind? Most people would conjure up those timeless images of the master taking brush to canvas in a humble studio. But in this modern age art has a myriad of different avenues to manifest itself. Khuong Tran is one of these contemporaries that embrace this quality of creativity.
His first spark of 3D interest came to him as a child when he and so many other kids in America saw the TV series Beast Wars for the first time. This childhood fascination remained with him when he was accepted to the University of Florida, Khuong was accepted into the highly competitive Visual Language program. This specialized track began building his artistic foundations and applied them to the commercial world, learning how to work in teams, creating an efficient pipeline, and discovering the power of 3D animation as a story device. His acquired knowledge and experience at UCF culminated into a stunning student animated short called Atlas' Revenge, of which he was the lighting director.
After Khuong's college years, he made an exodus to the west coast, with a plan to breach the 3D creative sector with his own personal style. Working in visual effects in San Diego and then Los Angeles, Khuong honed his lighting skills in the 3D medium. Years of schooling and industry experience have resulted in a robust yet honest lighting style that screams with artistic ambiguity but maintains a firm grasp on realism.
In any case, Khuong Tran is a rising star in the 3D community, shedding light where there is none.
